Ok I have a 92 VX I have it for a year now & Ive desided that I really like this car. Well Ive started tryin to fix all the little things wrong with the car! For starters it has the wrong IM on it (brought it like that), the CEL has been on for 4-EVER and now I wanna turn it off! It didnt a have map sensor on it so I found one and hooked it up still throwin codes 3 map, 8 tdcs, & 14 iac. I guess its throwin these codes because it has the wrong IM and there is no EGR valve. But wouldnt there be a code for that??? This is my daily and its one of the cleanest lookin cars I have yet! After I find a complete IM (have a few leads) I wanna figure out why my shift light on the dash doesnt work! It will light up when you first start the car but it wont light up after that!!!??? Any suggestions.

i have a 94 vx myself...my CEL comes on and goes away time to time...when it's on...shift light doesn't come on....and vice versa....

Wow dpine, you're very stupid.

The federal VX's have an economy shift light that comes on when you're in 16 valve mode and below 5th gear to tell you to upshift and save gas. Most people wouldn't upshift that early because it has you cruising at just over 1000 RPM. The shift light is on the row below the check engine light and has a white outline.

Actually, I'm not stupid. Nudvl is a friend of mine and I was giving him ****.

And secondly I owned a 95 vx for about 6 months and there was not any shift lights in the cluster on it that I can remember.

and if you want to call me stupid or have discussion about if clusters do or don't have a light then do it in a adult manner with a PM. its childish to call me out when you have no idea the connection between eme and the OP.
