Default Complete Noob

Just a quick question.

I'm making an attempt to jump into Honda for now. I've seen a black 98 Lude SH.

I'm damaged good when it comes to seeing the mileage since I'm from the rotary world, but is a SH with 170k miles for 5k a good deal?

These number scare me. Is it a safe buy? Considering all the normal maintenance has been done?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks guys.

i simply wouldnt buy an SH model due to the fact that its more trouble to turbocharge it

base model would be the way to go

if you dont plan on turbocharging it, then by all means its a good car

Not really looking to do any mods really.

Just looking for a daily driver right now. That I have confidence in it going well over 200k miles. (hopefully)

Please school me here.

I know the SH has a "handling" package? on it. I think, not too sure, but what are the differences between the base and SH pros or con. Or if there is a a a thread I could be directed to would be greatly appreciated it.

Thanks again for all future info.

Provided the Lude is in reasonable condition i would buy it, it would be a great daily driver. I have owned 2 Preludes, the first had 380K on the clock when i sold it and besides regular services all i ever had to fix were the brakes and the timing belt. My current Lude has 276K on the clock and she still drives smooth. Basically i have found Hondas to be well built, durable cars. So if you like it go for it, but i always recommend you get a good mechanic to give any car you are considering buying a good look over, just in case there is a major prob you dont know about. Goodluck with it.

Have you looked around? Ebay, Autotrader, etc.? Craigslist is good too.

I looked for several months and I have seen plenty of 5th Gen (97-01) Preludes with less mileage for the same money. I looked at a couple that were under 100k miles for around $5k. With that many miles I probably wouldn't pay $4k.

If I were you I would keep looking or make an offer about $1k less. All they can say is "no".

Good Luck,
Josh B.

that seems pretty pricey for that many miles. If he's willing to deal on it a little then it might be worth picking up.
