Default vtec code

i have a 6th gen i4, atmtc that starts boggling at 3900rpms (which is when the vtec kicks in), just got done with putting in ported head, intake manifold, throttle body, hondata heatshield (intake manifold gasket), custom arp studs and custom head gasket..after putting it all together was trying to tune the vafc but it started redlining on me at 3900rpm and can't think of what it can be?
already cleaned the vtec solenoid and i know its not that..i clear the code up but it comes back on almost instantly..could it be the intake manifold gasket by any chance?

certain CEL codes throw the computer into "limp" mode. basically it makes the vtec not work and puts the rev limiter at around that 3900. it shuts it down to help make sure you don't over rev and cause possible problems else where
