Default Several RSX Problems- please help.

Ok, so im just about to buy an rsx and im getting it for an amazing price. The thing is there are several little headaches i dont mind fixing.
The car is a 2002 Base model with a swapped Type S motor+tranny from an 02 as well i believe.

The engine light is on, and when the engine is just started(cold) it wont go past 5000rpm, then when it heats up(after 5 minutes of driving or so) it will max at 8000.

Also, when the car was shut off the power steering pump spewed fluid (immediatly at shutoff, when the pressure in the tank was dropped).

Im thinking the RPM problem could be compression issues?

Also when the car is idling, it is not a clean sustained idle. (Could that be tied to the lack of the power steering fluid being completly liquid?)

I dont think he swapper the type S computer into it so maybe thats where some problems stem from?

I really hope someone can help me out because im going to get this RSX at a great price, and if im not going to spend over 2000 on it then i will take it. Let me know, thanks alot guys.

It's got all these problems and you think you're getting it for an amzing price? I'm guessing there's a reason for this amazing price. Personally I'de stay away. But that's just my opinion. Swapped this, didn't swap that, **** leaks. Have fun dealing with the problems if you choose to buy.

The amazing price better include four digits in front of the decimal, not five.

Well the common smart thing to do is get the check engine codes to determine what's wrong. Then do a leakdown test...

I agree with blueshark123. I'd say it may be timing or ignition issues.

Thats what i was going to say, that determining whats wrong with it start at finding out what the CEL is... And it should be pretty easy to find out what ECU was used, by un-doing the three plastic pins and pulling down the cover. Then reading the number on the side of the ecu.

PND=base
PRB=Type S

Not passing 5000RPM after start up is the car in Limp Mode, my car does this when It's cold out and has to warm up first
