Default Pop up camper add-on for the Element...cool stuff

Ursa Minor has put together one of the coolest pop-up camping conversions for the Element that maybe anyone has ever done. It's definitely worth a look.

Bu at $4300 I don't know of too many people that will jump at this. Nonetheless, it's cool.

Truth be told, I'd get one if it was around $500.
But $4300.....I'll pass and pack my tent and an air mattress.

Not bad at all... except for the price.

I just bought an element and was wondering if anyone knows of a less expensive option besides the oem tent/changing area?

coleman makes some nice "standalone" units.

I see the whole "tent hooked to your car" thing as more of an "ooohhhh, lookie what I got" kinda thing. Not very practical if you ask me.

Yeah I think I am starting to agree with you. I have nice tents but was kind of hoping they made something that integrated smoothly with the element for a reasonable price.

Although I doubt I could get much more than a double bed in the back with the seats up anyways.

I'd buy it at $2500 as a fully complete conversion...$500 doesn't seem realistic for this type of thing.
This reminds me of the Volkswagen Vanagon:

I wonder how realiable it is, and if it leaks, hmmmm

My grandpa had one of those things for a long time. Used to go out camping all the time. Never had a problem with it from what I can remember. When we were kids we used to spend entire summer vacations sleeping in the camper.
