OBD0-OBD1 conversion wiring issue solution.(I have seen others with like symptoms)
I just converted to OBD1 and had some problems.
I searched Honda Tech to find the answer, but was not able to get one.
While searching I did find others with similar symptoms.
I figured out what the problem was today so I figured I would post it.
Conversion:
P28 ECU w/Hondata
Frog conversion harness
OBD1 distributor (prewired for OBD0 connector advertised on Hondata site.)
Everything was supposed to be plug and play.
Problem:
After install the car would just crank over and not start.
Eventually the CEL light would come on and the car would start and run amazingly rich. I turned the car off and tried again with the same symptoms.
I checked everything I did and could not solve it. Checked Honda tech, no luck.
Finally I looked at the papers with the Frog harness and noticed they had switched CKP-P with CYP-P and CKP-M with CYP-M. This is done to make the distributor conversion easier, unfortunately that does not work with the distributor that is already converted. I switched the wires back on the conversion harness and the car starts and runs with no problems.
