I have a 2002 s2k, when i had my windows tinted i think they broke the mechanism that keeps the cup holder door closed. I cant figure out how to get the door off to take a look.

Any suggestions?

 

Just pull on the center console and it pops out. Then you look under it to get the screws that hold the cup holder in.

the spring mechanism pops out of its seat real easy. especially if you try to force the lid shut with something too big in the cupholder.

I kept reseating mine but it was popping out alot, I took a heated paper clip and 'remolded' the little notch it sits in. havent had it pop out in 10k miles now.

does anyone know if the AP1 and AP2 center consoles, like main piece is interchangeble?

yes... its yet another thing AP1 owners are jealous of besides our entire car...

seriously, the ap2 center console looks so much better than ap1s. but whenever i find one for sale, it's so dam expensive.

the ap1 has a better cell phone holder...the little slot holds my phone perfect..
