Just curious, who got a bad tranny with their JDM swap? specially cable ones?

I haven't tested mine since my Y1 non lsd since im waiting for the shift linkage, but I heard that the syncro's dont last long and they grind alot.....

Also, mine looks like it was opened because it has some red silicon gasket around where it separates the tranny case. I hope it was a good rebuild.

 

mine came with a 3rd grind

 

The last S1 trans I got was really sloppy. Grinds 2nd if you shift too fast/hard.

 

I have the S1 tranny and mine grinds 3rd.

Started out sometimes a grind and progressed up to just ginds peroid but not much.

 

B16 tranny's come from the factory with a 3rd gear grind

 

mine grinds 2nd if i shift fast, but i blame the previous owner who was an idiot

 

your case might have been opened up to just replace a bearing. probably not for a rebuild, but hey congrats if im wrong.

yea i luv the comment from the factory grindin in third..thats hilarious.. i almost just wanna put a fig newton sticker on my windshield too but even that doesn't compare to this dude. Ok Honda's are like your best friends sister. U wanna get in good enough to where she asks for your opinion about other dude's yet you know who's she's callin late at night. Besides that, they get ragged on by famous racers out there on the streets who call themselves by there Honda-Tech name. Which is like an alius ok. or a pseudonym if you write horsecabob. Just blame it on the previous owner get some ***** do the research, pulls the tranny and crack open that case to inspect it like it gave you an STD. Just look at it and puts some vasoline on it. It'll slip in gear. LOL...ok ok. It can be pricey to call GearSpeed Inc. yet I would do it....... if it was muah's rebuild. Money goes along ways at THAT place. K

You tried way too hard and ended up not making any sense.

 

i picked up a jdm j1 tranny and it has a SLIGHT 3rd grind, and ive notices that i miss 4th sumtimes when at the track. ive changed trans fluid to penzoil synchromesh and it helped out alot but i think i just need to have new synchs installed. but luck with your tranny.

 

I have the same 3rd gear grind but only when I either downshift from 4th to 3rd or when I'm in high rpms but other than that it doesn't grind.

And if they don't come with a 3rd gear grind, they will most definitely come with a 4th gear grind. The same goes for D-series transmissions.

my hydro b16 tranny grinds 3rd when i shift fast in the upper RPM's. now i want a type r with coated synchros.

 

my j1 was perfect then my ys1 had a bad 4th grind.....i mean the trannys are old man so you kinda have to expect something is going to be either messed up or on its way out hence the reason why i run cable to hydro now

Just get a 92-93 GSR YS1 and you're set

 

My S1 b16 tranny had a 3rd gear grind when I got it from a junkyard eventually started grinding 4th too.....
