Default Identifing the b18c? calling all JDM experts

Ok there are two blocks with b18c stamp on them to my knowlege the integra sir and the type r. My ? is that how can you tell if you have a "r" block without looking at the pistons because what stops someone from putting a "r" head on a sir block it still would say b18c right. Hoping someone could shed some light on this subject....peace

I've always thought about that one myself... what's to stop a performance shop from selling you something different. Does anyone know if it has a stamp on it? Something like 98spec?

Hmmm...
Don't they also stamp either P72 or P73 on the block? If they do then that's how you can tell.
If not, then my guess is as good as yours!

No. There is a way you can tell by looking at the block serial # but otherwise
you CANNOT tell.

Look at the head. All 92+ B16A, B16B, and B18C-R have a 30 stamped on the head.

Pull the oil pan and look at the crank. If you are spending that much money on something, you better be able to check it out.

Thank Katman for the photo.

Why are you asking? Are you looking to buy a JDM B18C or are you trying to find a way to disprove those who claim to have one?

no i have i right now and my freind is tring to say it's a sir but i told him the only way it could be a sir is if they just put the r head on the sir block. So i wanted to know if i could prove to him and myself that it's a r block without pulling the head..........peace

You mean SIR-G correct?

The easiest way to check which B18C it is, is to look at the intake manifold (assuming the head hasn't been swapped).

Oh yeah that's the most obvious. And I can remember someone said that u can check somewhere close to the head gasket and see if THAT's an R block too?

There's green paint on ITR heads by the distributor, but that can be faked.

.....I believe there's a way to tell by checking those circular stamps on the exhaust side of the block.

I'll find the link for you tomorrow...
