I need advice on painting my car
Im planning on painting my car and I was wondering what the best paint to use is. i dont know the difference between ppg and all that i just know that im going to practice on some old fendeers and what not until im comfortable with going at my car. i want a metallic or pearl and i want shine.
1 what are the differences and what paint should I go with?
2 what type of spray gun and what should the settings be?
3 What other tips shoukld I know?
I know this may be covered in various other threads but it would be so much easier to have it in one. thanks for your advice and time.

Different companies produce different variance or "tints" for there color matches since this is an overall this shouldn't be a issue. However I highly do recommend Basf products.Just because high end cars use it,chip foose, and has one of the best "shine" you're looking for.

Pretty much any Hvlp gun or Rp.HVLP(High Volume Low Pressure) for your base. Then follow by Rp(reduce Pressure) for your clear. As far as your settings it depends on the user there preference.Everybody sets the gun to there settings.Since you're doing a metallic or pearl.I highly recommend doing lots of test panels to prevent.striping, streaking, modeling with the pearl since it's a "tri-stage process".I highly recommend going a solid color for your first overall.

When spraying coats try spraying at a 50% overlap to prevent streaking, striping. Also try to gather more information before you begin this project.Remember painting is NOT EASY .Good luck and hope to see some pictures for the last results.

forget painting pearl in your first job, all you would do is adding difficulty to it and more chances of messing up.
metallic is not hard but if you don't know what you doing you can get a lot of weird stripes and wave on the finish.
do you have the proper equipement? guns? dryer?
