My dad's looking into buying a welder, and he tends to buy craftsman everything. Personally, I'd rather just go with a miller or lincoln and be done with it, but I digress...
Are these any good?
Happy friday!

Best comparison I can give is, that I had one back in the day. Now, I currently have the LOWEST model Lincoln MIG. I used each for simple/cheap exhaust work, and body work. I personally really don't see any difference. I didn't expect wonders from either machine, and both welded all my automotive needs adequately. I really can't speak against either one, because both served me well.
In case your wondering, the only reason I ended up ever getting rid of the craftsman, was because I was tight on cash at the time and sold it. I know the guy that has it though, and he still uses it all the time. So, it's been goin good for about 7 years now.

sounds like a solid unit! make sure it has a warrenty. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Lifetime warranty is on hand tools only
I doubt VERY seriously the welder has it.

Craftsman welders have a limited 1 year warrenty. I've had a flux core craftsman welder for about 3-4 years, the things works flawlessly. Its great for small projects but its definatly time for a Miller
are you talking about this welder? If this is the one you are talking about then try and find a local dealer who sells clarke welders. This model is just a rebadged version of the clarke 130en model for a little more money. There isn't that big of a price difference between these too but if you look and the craftman 180 220v and the clarke 180EN 220v there is about a $300 dollar price difference for the same welder. Either way this is a good reliable welder based on what I've heard about the clarke welders.
weldingdepot.com has good deals on clarke welders if you wanna take a look.

Agreed. I have a Lincoln 110V welder for light stuff at home and I thought it wad fine. We just got a similar model at the shop but running on 220V and it kicks the **** out of the 110V unit, even with very similar specs. I don't have to run it on the highest amperage setting to get penetration.
