I hop in, start the car normally, back out of driveway and then realize that I can't find any gears?!?! I'm moving forward in what I think is 4th or 5th?!?

When I take it out of gear I can move the shifter around very freely and seemingly much further around than usual...Any insight?

 

check your linkages under the car make sure they are not lose and check to make sure all the bushings are good near the tranny where the linkages connect .

Kinda weird though, I mean how could I drive it in and be completely fine, then all of a sudden it messes up..

 

def your linkage. shifter may have come unbolted especially if you have an aftermarket one. Seethat happen alot I always use 2 12 mm nuts so they don't come undone. Or the bushing on the trans could be so shot the linkage fell off.
