did you check your linkage? you should check to make sure all the bolts are there and tight and also make sure that the rubber piece in the front of the linkage near the transmission is still there and in good shape

checked the linkage and noticed the bolt that holds the linkage with the rubber bushing had came off..thats why it wasnt going into gear..one more question if that piece isnt tight then would it still go into gear or will the shifter just wobble everywhere? and if the "bitch pin" is replaced by a bolt and nut..what would be the result? thanks

if that bolt is loose then the shifter will move freely due to the fact that that bolt is the one that holds the stabilizer bar of the linkage in place so if the linkage isnt stabilized then the shifter can go anywhere - as long as the bitch pin was replaced with a bolt that is snug in the hole and wont come out then i dont see you having any problems with it, ive seen people replace lost bitch pins with bolts before, however i do recommend you replacing it with the proper "bitch pin" so theres no doubt
