ok i looked on the block under the head where its says what engine i have and it says d15b1 i think or is it b7? any i still havent found out why its so slow not in limp mode i have a rebuilt head and bout to do a compression test also am i susspost to be able to scratch second gear ? cause its so slow it cant

well i think its a dx it started out with a 4spd trany but it went bad so i got an 5spd hf trany out of a crx from my friend for free and i have b1 rite ?

so is it even worth doing any work to this slow slow d15 or should i swap it ? really want the si motor but cant find it anywhere any advise realy jus want bout 110to 130 hp for cheap as possible for now
Dont get too involved in an SI swap, I have an EX sedan now (Same motor as the SI, D16A6), and it is still dog slow. Swap for a b series or plan for turbo, diont waste time on a strait D16 swap.
I think u have a b2 which is a dx std tbi engine and yes they're slow. Start with a multiport conversion, you'll need it for any swap you do anyway, and you can get 10 hp or so from doing that alone.
He said B1 or B7, and it was originally a 4 spd which would indicate that it was a STD model to begin with (D15B1 and a 4 spd). So having said that, you have less power than a normal DX and you are running a tranny with some of the tallest gearing ever for fuel efficiency.
It's been discussed on here a few times, maybe more, that the STD has a slightly smaller cam profile compared to the DX, and obviously the Si would be the best of the 3 camshafts. The 4 spd also has it's own specific ECU. If you really want to up the power from that specific motor you have, first thing is first, you need to do the MPFI conversion. After that, if you can source the matching cam then swap it. Lastly, get an Si transmission. Actually, you might want to get the Si transmission first. Gearing is dramatically different from the HF transmission.
There you go, basic 1.5 Si. It won't be lightning fast but it'll be fairly close to 100hp +/- but if you really want 130ish hp or closer to it, you can swap a DOHC ZC for cheap or maybe a D16Z6 but you'd still need the Si tranny for maximum performance of either motor in stock form.

im buying an si trany today i saw on the faq how to tell if its an si or not but how dow you put the tranny in first when its out of the car ? and will i need the ecu for it ?
i just got me a 91 si hatch for cheap but the previous owner flooded the motor with oil so i had to get a d15b but i put my si gear on there(manifold and tranny) and it runs probably the same as my friends stock 90 crx si, does great on gas though ahah
