Default Stock wideband and a/f gauge

Ok, I have heard that since the ep3 and dc5 both use wideband o2 sensors that you can hook up a cheap narrow band a/f gauge like one from autometer and it will read the true wideban signal and won't act i.e. flash all around like a narrow band o2 sensor. Is there any truth to this?

That's what i thought. Right now i have a flip out head unit and i run my laptop to the head unit and open kpro and watch all my sensors throught that. I just don't want to buy a true wideban at this time. I'm tuned so i'm not too worried about it but if i up the boost or changes parts i want to be able to see what its doing. pluse i like my sleeper look.
