hey guys i just intalled a system in my car its a 1000 watt amp and what sometime happens is that when i am goin to stop i push the cluth in then the brake and its like my car dies and comes back on really fast. Also it ideals weird like it going to die or something
To put a system in a compact car is kinda overkill so your either going to need to downgrade your amp or pick up a bigger alternator like the other man said. But as for your brake/clutch problem I have no idea. Hope you get it figured out
The car is "dying" because the power draw from the alternator is too great with the new system. And no, a cap won't fix it. Time to look into a HO alternator.
BTW, someone post up the factory amperage of the alternator plz!

just because you were under the hood, and now having these problems, you should recheck your vacuum lines to make sure you didn't accidently bump one and knock it loose or something.

the ELD is probably opening up the IACV quite a bit, letting less vac into the PCV valve, resulting in a clogged PCV which may contribute to the stalling when the brake booster is applied.
OR I had a problem like this before. Im not saying dont check the vacuum lines because thats very possible. But if his system is wearing out his alt and he doesnt have a cap on it (so it is wearing that alt out) when he hits the brakes when the car is stopped (not necessarily when he pushes the clutch) and the brake lights come on with all his stereo equipment and **** on causing the car to die. But the battery is good so it cranks back up until everything loads back up system starts hitting. Then dies when he hits the brakes. Alot more reasonable answer than replacing the brake booster.
Yes, A capacitor will greatly help. Don't lie to him.
This thread is fukin retarded and old. The amp is NOT too much. I have a 2000 watt amp in my coupe. Only get occasional dimming in the headlights. If it was due to the amp drawing too much current then YES a cap would help. But 1000w isn't going to be the issue. If the OP is still having a problem then I would check the brake booster as well. If the charging system is in good working order then the amp install is most likely just a coincidence or something he did during the install.
wierd i have a 1000 watt amp and a 400 watt amp and no problems at all.
blk92_d16 YES a cap will help!
take it in and have the alt checked for free... when your amp is turned on to where you normally listen to it, and see if thats the issue;. possibly a new better battery
gel cell, or something with a lil more power then the stocker
but i highly doubt the system is casuing that,

I dont think its a problem with the system. I have a stock alternator in my 96 hatch running a 2000 watt RMS class d soundstream amp with no problems like that. Yeah it does dim the lights when i turn it up real loud.
Turn your system down & see if it still does it, your obviously drawing too much power somewhere.
A cap will help this a bit but a bigger alternator would def. be the way to go as well. Take a volt meter to your power wire on your amp & see how much power its drawing.
