Default bad steering rack??

hey guys, i recently replaced my axles and wheels bearings but for some reason (after 30mph) my steering shakes incredibly to a point where it is not safe to drive what so ever....my b16 swap went in and my car used to be an automatic hatch (meaning it was power steering).....now im just curious if i dont have fluid going to the rack will it cause to break or wear out sooner? i replaced just about everything suspension wise too and the rack is my only option left it seems...what do you guys think??

I would get a manual steering rack and put in there. I am sure that the power steering fluid is needed on a power rack to keep it lubricated.

i picked up a manual steering rack for my lx a few weeks back. greased it all up and swapped out the power to manual. also if your going to do this swap. you'll need to save the power steering rubber bushing that's goes around the passangerside of the rack, that bolts up on the passanger side. you'll have to double the rubber peace up. with the manual and power-rack. you'll notice the manual is much thinner in size.

Have you checked your wheels are correctly aligned and balanced? That would create a shake, and would be cheaper to replace then a steering rack.

Just thought i'd put that out there.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yep, my problem was twofold. My left axle was bad, and I had warped rotors. Problem virtually disappeared after I fixed those two problems.

no, it just shakes all around lol braking, accerelating, turns, and so forth.......as a matter of fact today i was just turning the wheel in the garage when it was quiet and i heard a little whistling noise comming from the tubes of where fluid is supposed to be in the rack so in a way im hoping the rack is just done for bc my manual one is comming sometime next week
