help, minor misfire in one cylinder...
i am in need of some help. first off, let me say that i have lurked on here for a while and i dig this site. i hope someone here can shed some light on my problem.
i have a stock '96 accord ex wagon (2.2 vtec). the check engine light comes on and the code that is present is for a minor misfire in the number two cylinder. not knowing cars with on board computers, i first replaced the injector for that cylinder. if that were the problem, i would have had a lean code, correct?
drove the car, code came back. since then i have checked every vacuum line i can trace to both ends (because the hesitation felt when driving feels similar to that), i have replaced the plugs with ngk, replaced the cap and rotor, replaced the plug wires, switched brands AND octane levels of gasoline (i have only run about one tank of the new gas through the engine), pulled the plugs to look at the top of the pistons (all dirty) to make sure i don't have a head gasket issue, i did a compression test (the 2nd cylinder held about 145 lbs. for two hours), and checked the intake manifold gasket for leaks (none), and i am still getting the code.
any ideas? i am very proficient on older cars that do not have on-board computers, but these newer ones still baffle me from time to time.

u could try cleaning your e.g.r tubes usually it will throw a code for that but sometimes it will just miss on 1 cylinder if just that one tube is stopped up
Ever tried cleaning the EGR ports?? Might help. You replaced everything, not sure what is going on....
I had some oil leaking in the tubes before, so the spark was grounded. Not sure if this is your case. Might as well see.

Not if the other three cylinder ports weren't plugged... Since you are OBD2 with your 96, it will throw a code for lack of flow, but not lack of flow on just one port like you possibly have.
Actually, that port might be getting too MUCH EGR with the others fully or slightly clogged, which would definitely raise the chances of a misfire with tons of exhaust gas being fed to the one cylinder...
You may have replaced the valve, but being a 96, if you haven't cleaned the PORTS yet, it will be filthy in there.
