header sizes
What is the diameter of the factory Honda exhaust headers for the 4cyl 6th gen accord? I'm looking to get these CARB certified Ebay headers with a 3" diameter.

It is a 2 piece design, and i was wondering if it is something I can do myself. Would I have to weld the hanging brackets on? Or are they bolt on? Would these headers give me much boost? I'm saving money so that I can buy stuff for my car. I'm wondering if I should forget the headers & continue saving for a T-belt change. Basically, my main concern is if I will notice much of a difference from the headers I want to add..?

what is 3"? I don't see anything in the listing about the size.
Also, the "50 state legal or pending legality" would make me very cautious.
I would forget the header right now and get the maintenance things done first, like the timing belt you mentioned. Cause in the end, whats the point in a header or something if the car isn't running right.

Are you looking for the header collector size or primary tube size? The collector for a factory exhaust would be 2" or 1" 7/8.
Did you ask them if they do custom sizes? I didn't see anywhere that you could order these with a 3" collector. You would probably have to get one welded to it after. Other than that it looks like it has all of the mounts that you would need. They state in there auction that they are plated 50 state legal or pending legality. I would check into your local laws to see if pending legality works in your area... I could probably get away with using them.
^^^^EDIT* TA beat me too it
on the maintenance!

Don't waste you're money on a ebay header. Its not worth it, its going to crack which will cause you to loose performance. You're better of saving up a little bit and buying a nice one that you will ses gains out of. Like a tri-y style from one of the sponsors on here.
no way that those headers give the preformance said to be given for that price. They're cheap and as St. Jimmy mentioned they WILL crack. save up for something better. Getting the headers installed itself cost a lot! so you don't want to puch some cheap crap on your car where you'd have to pay that X amount of money again to take it off and put either another one or stock back on. If I'm not mistaken most headers come in with 2.5 or 2.75" collectors. Trust me...I''m in the same route as you are at the moment. I want to get my headers and get them on the car.

Not saying that you should get these Ebay headers but WTF are you talking about here? It took me 1hr to put a set of headers on in my driveway. With basic ratchet set, grinder to cut rusty bolts, jack, jack stands, new gaskets and bolts for the header to cat connection. And I think you should recheck your stock exhaust diameter because if your header collector is 2.75" at the end you may need a reducer to fit them to your cat.

X2.....not hard at all if you know what your doing.....the whole they will crack thing depends on the seller and the quality....but in reality it is pretty true....alot of ebay no name headers do crack from the intense heat
LOL
I rock a $30 (shipped) ebay header on my H22, no cracks, no anything bad. Only thing so far that's happened was the nuts where the top and bottom meet rattled off because I didn't loctite them originally.
Fixed that and it's good to go. The header has even held up to being bounced off the pavement.
Also if you search there's a post in the Prelude section regarding performance. Roughly 10hp across the board with it. (on the H22)

right, there may be some no name eBay headers that are made to lower standards and have quality issues BUT that doesn't mean every no name header on eBay IS going to follow that same trend.
All I'm getting at is until someone can show proof that a certain product will fail do not spread speculation as fact. This goes for everything, not just no name eBay headers.

So many e-bay haters.
The headers from e-bay will work just fine and they won't give you buyer's remorse when you realize they aren't worth any real gains on a F-series Accord. Why pay $300 when you get the same power from $60-70?
And installing them is easy. Get a jack, some jackstands, some wrenches, a can of PB blaster and go to work.

exactly.....alot of people automatically assume "if its a no name ebay porduct it will fail"....and thats just not true...depends on the product...most of the time a little common sense, a good look at the description, and a few questions to the seller will prevent you from wasting your money
I dont understand how its going to crack. How many different types of metals are used from brand to brand? t304 steel is pretty general, is that a low grade steel that is at high risk of cracking?
