Should I get this??
I found a 1998 Honda Accord EX-V6.. Does this thing check out right? Only thing is the milage I'd say is 120000+/-. What would you say on it?

Looks pretty damn clean! A nice looking car, I'm just thinking of the transmission. Depending on how its been driven, it could be going out the window soon. I think 6k is a little much for it, but if youre willing to spend that, its a nice car.
PS, i love the interior

Even if it's a 98, and not the more notorious 00-01 years, I'd avoid the automatic transmission on the 6th gen in particular, and the v6 in particular. I'm on my 2nd and there are a lot of people with problems, and even with Honda extending the warranty on the transmission, people are still losing money when it's out of warranty or they try to sell it.
If you're looking for power, the V6 feels quick, but you can find much more powerful sedans for the money.

What do you mean by "i'd say is 120k?" Do you know the mileage or not?

No, the tranny was designed badly, and not enough fluid is available to reach the second gear. This leads to increased wear and tear, higher temperatures, and then all of a sudden the tranny is shot. I remember one day, my car went to redline in first gear, bounced off the rev limiter, shuddered, and then dropped into 2nd and rocketed me forward. It was amusing at first, but I knew it wasn't good news.
Honda has a fix, they provide a new or remanufactured tranny, but some people are on their 4th or 5th tranny. Fingers crossed, my replacement is holding up after some small repairs.
THe only other solution is to have a custom transmission built from somewhere like Level 10, but then the whole idea of a cheap car is thrown out the window.

I despize dealerships..especially used car dealerships. Everything about them is so shady. Chances are the car has some bad history, check a CARFAX history report. The mileage might not be too great if they dont know off hand.

This is the basic service bulletin, it says 7 years/100k, but I am POSITIVE that it has been extended further, but a weird amount, like 7 years, 6 months and 109k.

So since my car is well past 7 years, I'm not eligible, correct? I heard that the 98 & 99 models are all on a case by case basis, meaning they may consider it for some 98, and not another; No specific warranty is in place.
thats just what i heard

Yea, you're right, unfortunately
And yes, it's case by case for the other years, but if you're out of warranty, you might be able to call corporate customer relations or something and they might cough up a goodwill replacement or something, it's always worth a shot.

For MIDNIGS question, I'd find out the mileage and the complete history report. Deff drive it & see how the tranny is running. Is it struggling to change gears, etc? Then you should make a decision, after you've seen all the facts.
As for the tranny warranty, the only problem is that my tranny isnt slipping yet. Its fine right now. So theres not much I can do.
Maybe a little later.
