Default s2000 Owners: Quick antenna question

Hey guys, I drive an Integra and i've been looking into an S2000 antenna swap. Only problem is that everyone says that they get bad reception. Now, I know Honda didn't put an antenna into the S2000 that gets bad reception. So what is everyone missing? I've heard of a signal booster that S2000's have.

Can anyone confirm what may be missing when people do these swaps? I'd love to get some accurate info for Integra guys, coming straight from the mouth of S2000 owners. Pictures would be great also if you have any!

Thank you!

are you serious? why would you want one? because it's small? you can get one from a store and swap it out.

the shorter style antenna like the s2k uses an internal booster to get better reception from the small antenna, so yes they are right.

Wow this thread wasn't going where I planned it to...haha. I'm looking to buy an S2000 antenna, A: because it's cleaner, and B: because my retracting antenna is dying, and it grinds every time it retracts. If I go this route, I will be buying it legitimately...I'm really not sure what about my post left any suspicion that I would steal one (?! ). My main goal here is to find out the information myself and to educate people who have problems with the swap.

So this internal booster...is part of the antenna or is it inside the body of the car, in between the antenna wire to the HU and the antenna post itself? It seems that people who just do a direct swap get poor reception, so my hunch is that there is another piece to the system. Has anyone actually looked in the trunk behind the panel to see?

i had am ebay shark antenna that was a replica s2k antenna on my integra and the reception was fine. if you get the real s2000 antenna the powered part is around 100 at the dealership and then the short antenna is around 20-30. you will have the same reception or close to it as long as its powered

Yeah, tried ebay and I can't find a specific mention of it, a part number or anything like that. I'm just really hesitant to get one of these w/o the booster since people have transplanted them with hit or miss results.

That would be awesome if you could check it out some time, I'd love to know for sure. Thanks man!

That helps tremendously. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to find that! I was having no luck on parts websites trying to find that diagram. Looks like that little box under the antenna is the missing link.

Thanks for the input everyone, hope this will help others also!
