Default HKS Hi Power too restrictive for turbo? searched...

Im trying to find a suitable exhaust for my DA 450hp ls/vtec build. A number of things have come into consideration, like my 3in dp being mated to the 2.4 hi power. I dont want to go the route of custom 3in, but it is still an option. I like the look of the hks, and from what I hear, it's a really nice exhaust. Ive had an N1 on another setup so I'm familiar with the style and sound-which isn't an issue ( I drove a whole summer with an open ITR header w/ no cat, so I'm used to loudness). I've seen close to none on H-t using this on boosted setups, so let me know what you think.

I'm open to constructive criticism.

Run an electronic boost controller and electronic cutout. When you're just driving around normally, turn the boost down and run the HKS exhaust...then when you want to really get on it, open the cutout and turn up the boost. That way you get the benefit of the larger exhaust with the look and sound of the HKS whenever you want

I win

See, I knew someone was gonna throw that cutout in! I just want a free flowing cannister exhaust without all the extras. I'm lazy so all that button pushing is out the window for me.

Well, in my search I found one H-T member who made 450/315tq along the same lines. Same 3in dp, same t3/t67ho, different 2.5in catback w/ no cat.

That wasn't my idea of constructive criticism, if you thought you were noob-bashing, the jokes on you.

Ok Mr. 159 posts.

Why do you want 2.5 so bad? If i were looking to make the goals you stated i would atlest go with 3 inch. Look into Kteller, they make a mandrel bent "kit" for the da that you could take to your local muffler shop and get put together. Plus you can run any muffler you want.

You can run the 2.5" but if you were to upgrade to 3" or run the cutout like i suggested, you'd have noticeably faster spool and more top end power.
