JDM header vs USDM header
Im in the market for a header. Currently my setup on a b16:
Comptech icebox w/ intake
Mugen twinloop exhaust
I dont plan on adding aggressive cams (ie. Toda / Jun / Skunk).
My question is if I go with a JDM header (2.5" collector) and upgrade to a 2.5" cat will i make more power throughout the power band or would i end up losing power vs going with a USDM header (2" collector) and stock cat with my current modifications? Any input would be helpful.

what car is it going on? (I read b16a, but don't know what car). The reason why i ask is due to ground clearance issues. JDM 4-1 hangs lower than USDM 4-2-1.
If you want ground clearance with great power gains, go w/ Toda 4-2-1... but at almost 3x the cost.

It would pretty hard to justify that cost for the setup he's planning to run. JDM 4-1 is the best bang for the buck...

I'll second those comments!
-Ben, who is still enjoying the gains from his DC JDM 4-1 with Carsound/SMSP cat.... though, Bishop already KNOWS this

well, i don't think you should worry about that, some ppl even say that need to keep some back pressure but it's just BS for me
, JDM is better than usdm stock that's wat everyone knows, and i think it's a good idea to port it even if you are not going with cams or anything else.

Bear in mind that you asked this question in the ITR Forum, and our experiences will apply chiefly to the ITR B18 motor.
I have seen first hand what this mod does for the ITR courtesy of uncleben's #1214. (i lended a hand with the install) Courtesy of my sensitive BUTT DYNO i could feel the car pull even before vtec. The pull was much stronger than stock even with 3 people in the car.
I am hoping the results will be compairable on the B16. I know the ITR cams are more aggressive than the stock B16 cams but dont know if it will make that much of a difference. thx everyone for their quick responses.

1 word to describe the 4-1
awesome. i can feel the pull all the way up to the top and it doesn't stop. (haha i'ma poet and i just don;t know it
) i got the opportunity of driving a stock R, and my car pulls A LOT harder. no kidding. from 3 and up, you can full it pull harder.. and when you hit vtec, besides the louder roar, you get a nice kick in the pants.
conclusion: worth the money? YES! best bang for the buck for sure!!

someone suggested using these with a JDM 4-1 header:

would these work on the other JDM headers?

jdm 4-1 or dc jdm 4-1 for joo bang for the buck foolios
unless you're really slammed to the ground i dont think u need the skid plates. i was on the jdm 4-1 last year with a 1 finger gap on the wheel well and it cleared everything no problems; this was on 15s in a civic coupe. now its on toda 4-2-1 and the clearance looks the same to me.
