B16A Bogging at 5k.
I have on obd1 b16a in my cx hatch. It all began when i shut my car off for a short time. maybe 2 minutes or so. Then i returned to start it and it started for a short time and then bogged out an died. I let it sit for 10 minutes and then drove it. I tried to get on it and between 5000 and 5500 rpms it fell on its face like it lost all power completely. A cel came on and i shifted into second to see if it would do it again. Once again it fell flat on its face for a second then continued through the rpms without vtec. I checked the cel and it was 23 knock sensor. I have had this code for over a year now so it didnt store the new code. Now sometimes when i drive it will drive correctly and sometimes it doesnt. It always does it when dropping into 2nd at 40 at trying to go. I have had numerous people tell me it sounds like a spark problem. Any ideas?
Clear your codes to see what the new one is...if there is in fact a new code. If not fix the cell and see if that helps...also check your oil level might sound dumb but have seen many issues solved by checking oil and adding any if need be.
oil was low i added a quart first thing. i always run 92 octane fuel. nothing new done to the car. it doesnt sound like its pinging or knocking

then you probably have a bad knock sensor/wiring. they are like 150$ had the same problem with my b16/p30. switched to a chipped p28 with no knock board. problem went away.
Yeah I would def go ahead and fix that knock sensor first then you cleared the cel so if it comes on you will know something has actually failed. Also its just good to have a knock sensor on ecu that supports it. Protects your motor and when the cel is on the ecu cuts back on timing a bit so your not getting full potential with that check engine light on.
