Sunroof filled, now the hood is peeling
I just bought this car last friday, the kid said that sunroof was removed and professionally filled. *jerkoff motion*
looks like a pretty bad hack job from what I can see but no biggie I'm willing to fix it.
long story short here are some pictures I took of it on sunday.

I will get a picture of what it looks like now tonight.
I am betting that the stiffness of the car is what caused the initial cracking. Obviously that stuff they laid on the hood is not meant to flex, whatever whatever.
How much of a fix am I looking at I know absolutely nothing about body work, so I am going to take the car over to my brother. I'm just worried about stuff getting under there, or I should take a grinder and grind the peel down and just primer my roof for the time being...
arg. throw me a bone.

I'm as impatient as they come, so I would start on it. But you mentioned you know nothing about body work. I'm guessing your brother does, so take it to him. If the whole car is like that, you're most likely looking at redoing the whole thing. You just don't know what he did before the paint either, when that **** starts cracking and peeling, it's gonna lead to rust and more rust. I'de get it off of there and get some primer on it to save the metal. If you do it yourself, your looking at a weekend project, that may lead into monday or tuesday, depending on how well you do. Bump for more pics though!
Find out how they filled the opening in the roof...you can take down the headliner inside the car and see if there was a patch panel welded in the opening for the moonroof (this wouldve been the ideal way for them to have done it) BUT it looks like they might of splooged a **** load of bondo on top of a patch panel, id get a mil gauge on that bitch and see exactly how much **** is on there. What I would suggest you do if there is a panel in there covered in bondo is get a new roof skin and weld it in to replace that one, id be willing to bet that is what any self respecting bodyshop is going to tell you, it really isnt as hard as it would seem
I had plans of just buying a new roof skin and having it welded in, until I took into account the fact that the roofs of these cars don't have rain ducts like the honda's do so it's not as easy as just putting a pillar bar in place removing the windows and welding in a new skin.
i gotta do a complete lid swap
It looks pretty much like ripping the skin from an orange back but yes they welded in a metal panel which already looks pretty rusty in it's place. It was a horrible job imo so I guess I'm going to have to remove everything and do it the right way.

looks like a gallon of bondo packed in there-
take it to a shop and have them look it over just to be safe

spoke to my brother today, looks like autozone bondo since it's pink, water basically got in those cracks when I washed it and touched the metal the bondo was stuck to and thats why it buckled like that.
So we're going to grind the bondo out, re weld the plate in since it looks like it was spot welded in and then bondo'd
ugh, got a long weekend ahead of me.

I'll make sure to post the shops information since they left a business sticker on the truck lid which it looks like they may have replaced or welded some holes in as well.
that looks like a 50 dollar special to just get the car sold, which means the kid might have known it was a **** job.
theres no way that he had no problems whatsoever, then 1 week after you buy it the roof starts to peel back, AFTER you washed it.
