Parts Needed for D16Z6 into DPFI CRX
I have seen many threads about what is needed for the D16Z6 swap into a CRX Si, but I was wondering about an 89 Civic Std. My friend is having some rod knock, and would like to upgrade to 5 spd with a little more power. I know we need:
-D16Z6 longblock with VTEC solenoid and pressure sensor off 92-95 Civic EX or Si
-Tranny off 92-95 Civic EX or Si
-P28 ECU
-OBD0->OBD1 harness
-Some sort of DPFI->MPFI harness
I am not sure about:
-Engine mounts
-Header-back exhaust lining up
-Airbox intake piping lining up
-Other wiring needed
-Axles
Can anyone at least begin to define the parts we will need for this swap?

keep your stock mounts, and re-use the drivers side bracket off the stock motor, you will have to trim the lower timing cover for it to fit but it puts the engine more square in the bay.
the z6 transmission wont work unless you get some VERY expensive hasport mounts. not worth it, keep the stock transmission or upgrade to a cable SI trans
stock axles
need a mpfi throttle cable
use exhaust manifold and downpipe or header for the z6, it will bolt to the stock exhaust of your car
not sure about intake lining up, i use aftermarket so doesnt matter
4 wire oxygen sensor and wiring
other than the conversion from dpfi and obd1 you should be good.
