Default Compression Tested the R today & the results were ....

2000 ITR w/ 150k on the clock.

It smokes under hard acceleration/vtec crossover .

We seafoamed it about 3 weeks ago and it felt a little bit better overall.

I just compression tested it thinking cyl 3 would be bad but we got 230 in every cylinder.

It threw code 45 ( running too rich / running too lean ) about a week ago and then it turned off randomly. It was off for about 3 days and now it turned back on.

Does this mean that it is for sure my valve seals?

Thanks guys & sorry for the newbie question !

It is hard to say. Just because you have great compression across the board doesn't mean the oil control rings are still good.

Try a leak down test also. Typically, valve seals will cause oil burn off when a vehicle is first started... HOWEVER, I know of 1 case where valves seals caused excessive oil burning at high revs on the track.

Also check the valve guides..with that many miles i bet the exhaust side are worn.

def need a leakdown done to further diagnose the problem, how much oil do you burn or how often do you have to add oil?

I have only had the car for about 2 months now. I did an oil change about a month ago and it still looks great.

Then again , I dont drive it very often and I dont drive it hard.
