Need help, car is having problems staying on after install.
Hey, I got a problem. I just recently installed a freshly rebuilt B16 motor ready for turbo into my Crx, and is having problems staying on. I'm trying to get ready for this Wen. for the track and have yet to figure out whats the problem.
So heres the problem, the car well not stay on, it'll crank, and turn over then just shut right back down. I thought it was the fuel pump cause I didn't hear it when I would turn the key on so I changed it out with a brand new 255 fuel pump figuring that it was the problem. Installed it, tried to start the car, still did not hear the pump kick on but still cranked it over anyways, did the same thing it would start up,for a sec then shut back down. after scratching our heads, we decided to switch the main fuel pump relay, figured that would have worked, but it did the same thing as before.
After sitting there thinking and thinking, my little nephew was playing around with my key chain and accidentally hit the remote start button, it fired right up like a champ and stayed on, while it was on we checked everything, and everything seemed fine. So we decided to shut it off and try with the key, didn't work. but we noticed that the fuel pump well kick at at the last turn right when you are about to turn it over. When we hold the key when we are turning it over, the car stays on, but when we let go it'll shut down instantly.
We tried everything we could think of, I'm running out of ideas.
I researched and couldn't find much info, I've posted on other forums and even called honda to see what they said, bt couldn't help me. So I you guys are my last resource.
Thanks for all the help.

sounds like the key cylinder (grr forgo the name of it, thing you put the key into to start the car)
is bad, exactly what you describe happens when it goes bad.
If you hold the key in the start position the engine will stay running. but it will kill the starter by tearing up the teeth on it and the flywheel.

Go to a junk yard and get one with a key. You will probably have to buy the whole steering column but it will be cheaper than ordering a new one. Especially if thats not the problem sounds like it though.
could be the ing. cyl. well we know the pump needs +/- so figure out what the other wires are for and why its not priming. don't jus throw parts at it
test light is my b/f
