is there anything special about the 98 type R?
It is the 2nd year the Type R was made in the United States, and it was offered in the ever-so-popular Championship White color only.

So CW would be the history of Honda Auto Racing...
Was there ever even a CW car before the 96 R? Or was this color created or used for the first time in 96? Was it on their F1 cars or something?
competition yellow mica... does it have a history? serious question...
Well... it's special, in the sense that EVERY ITR is special. But unfortunately, it was only available in white, so it looks like white GS-Rs and other white Integras.
Now, the Phoenix Yellow ITR from 2000 and 2001 are REALLY special, because they don't look like other (non-R) Integras.

the F1 cars of the 60's , the F1 that won honda its first race back then was championship white...i'm not saying its their only racing defined color, but its a special one right up there with HRR

CW type R's can never be mistaking with a white gs-r wingless or not.
