Default 98 civic EX engine question

I've got a 98 civic EX coupe and I'm looking to do some engine work on it, I'm relativly new to all this so I don't know a whole lot and I've been looking on a lot of auto part websites and most of them seem to default the engine type to VTEC or D16Y8 I don't know what my engine is, it just says Honda on it, is there anywhere in or on my car that I could figure out what my engine is, I'm looking to replace my spark plugs and my air intake and a few other things and I want to make sure I'm buying the right parts. My car is about as basic as the 98 EX's get so I don't think theres anything fancy but I'm just trying to figure out what everything I have is and what a good website for finding parts for my car would be. Thanks

Stock engine in the EX is a D16Y8.

To confirm, look on the block, below the head and to the right of the transmission. There's a small piece of metal that will indicate what engine you have.

if you have an ex then it is vtec. there should be a solinoid on the back of the valve cover closer to the distributor. there should be a green plug on it if you have it then it is vtec.
