Default I want a safe rev limit

I recently bought a ek with an h22 swap. Everything is great, but the ecu is chipped to go to 9,000 which is extremely dangerous in my opinion. Is there a way to chip it at a lower rpm. Like 7,500? What do I need to do?

Take it to someone who could chip/tune...

...or save yourself the money and buy a shift light, or just don't shift above your desired shift point. Rev limit is nothing more than your fuel cutting out, which can run your motor lean for that period of time you're at your limit. I'd imagine it's much safer to shift at 7500, and have the limit set at 9000, to avoid any problems...just don't go above 7500.

If you're interested in a decent and adjustable shift light, that's easy to hook up...I have a Proform light, yellow bulb, blue casing, works great. Just send me a message for price and pictures.

take it to a tuner, like he said, but IMO a better option on the shift light is the MIL to light up at the desired RPM and then your fuel cut after, but it looks cleaner and you don't have a gaudy shift light

as to what to set it at, 7.5 doesn't sound bad, assuming its stock?

you are right though, 9K is high, i hope you were told what its set at, and didn't find out the hard way, but i would have a tuner at least look over your map, because if you have a 9K limit, you don't know what else is in the tune

^misshift + 7700 Rev limiter = Death

not even an electronic fuel cut can stop a mechanical downshift at 90mph

Okay someone is wrong here because I doubt we all have different rev limits. In both mine and buddies 97 preludes the fuel cut is 8000 rpm's. Redline and fuel cut are 2 different things.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT,..the "who's motor rev's the highest" thread..?! You all need to stop paying attention to your rev limit, and pay more attention to when your car stops making power!

This needless abuse needs to stop.

thats not even that important. where the revs drop to when you shift and where your peak torque is at is more important in racing.

stock h22a4 rev limiter is 7648 exactly. That is 8k on the stock tach.
