Ok...I'm new to the forums! Hi! I ran some searches and didn't find an answer to satisfy me. I'm not new to cars...but imports, and boost ARE new to me. So...I don't wanna risk my beautiful new car. I've been going crazy looking for some oil. I read that glimpse out of the oil bible and learned some stuff I never new before. Very helpful! Now the guy I bought my car from has taken EMACULATE care of this car. His g/f's dad is a honda tech, and all his work is meticulous. It's a JDM B16A motor w/ a t3/t4 turbo. When he bought the turbo kit, and put it on the car...he told me the kit reccomended he use Mobile 1 fully synthetic 5w50 oil, which was all he had run. Well...I have been tearing my hair out trying to find some anywhere...and I can't! So in essance...I have 2 questions...#1...How does everyone feel about Mobile 1 fully synthetic for their boosted engines? and #2...Is 5w50 the correct weight? My buddy thinks it's too heavy. He's got a 99 SI em1, that's boosted, and said he runs 10w30 I think... So should I continue going crazy to find the 5w50? Or will everything be ok on a lighter weight oil? btw...I live in SC (so really cold temps don't occur...figure never less than about 20 degrees F)...and I'm close to sea level...The engine has about 60K on it, and only about 6k since it was boosted. umm...anything else u need to know to help me. Just ask. I appreciate it! Don't mean to seem soooo uptight ...but this is my first Honda...I love it to DEATH!!!!! and I just want it to be as well cared for as possible. Thanks

I've always run 10w30 in the summer...5w30 in the winter in my boosted GSR. I generally run Royal Purple, but have changed it up a bit over the past few years. Royal Purple oil changes get a little spendy after a while

 

all I run used to run was mobile 1 10w30 on my old boosted lsv, also that's all my hommie runs on his 600whp boosted gsr
