Question about Timing belt tensioners
I got a couple questions on timing belt tensioners on high hp FI B-series cars (lets say 400 - 500whp)
1) Is the factory timing belt tensioner suffice for regular high rpm track/street cars?
2) Does the B18c5 come with an auto or manual tensioner from the factory?
3) Also how good or neccessary is a supplemental belt tensioner such as this one made by vibrant http://www.vibrantperformance....3c78d
4) What are you guys using and how much power are you making? Any issues?
All input is greatly appreciated

I was not aware of an aftermarket tensioner, ever the vibrant is not an aftermarket tensioner, just an addition to the factory setup. You will be just fine with only the OEM Tensioner, that is what everyone runs.

Yeah I know its not an aftermaket tensioner, thats why I said "supplemental tensioner" lol. Anyways are you running just the stock setup without any issues? Cause you seem be be making more than 500whp

OEM tensioners from Hondas don't really seem to have any adjustment or HP issues unlike in the DSM camp. Many here have not had any real experience w/ different tensioners, because as long as it was intitally set up correctly, there is no issue to worry about.

I'll agree, but I also will state for odd number of years I have been doing this, I have worked on some setups where the oem spring/tensioner was not doing its job up to my likings.. Which resulted in me having to pull up on the tensioner to apply more pressure.
