First time detail: How to remove swirl marks?
Ive tried and tried again unsuccessfully. Im going to Autozone next week after I get back my car which has been in the shop for over a month and a half. Before that it hasnt been washed for awhile or cleaned properly. Has tons of swirl marks, scratches, etc. What product should I buy to remove swirl marks? I try to get it to look like what I see in pics on here, but never get any close to what you guys do. Must be using some magic clay bar or wax, cause the **** I buy aint half as good.
I would put swirl remover on by hand.
Turtle wax used to make a colored wax which works like shoe polish by adding pigment. I loved this stuff because it removed swirls and beefed up dead, faded paint

I bought a bottle of that a long while ago when it was on clearance at work.
I'm tempted to go, and find it now.

if you can actually find something at autozone that will remove swirls, kudos to you.. ive tried their over the counter stuff and it sucks.. if you really want to stand back at the end of the day and say "WOW" .. buy yourself a porter cable polisher (easiest one to use, even for a first timer), some menzerna polish, and a good carnuba wax like victoria wax, or even something cheap like meguiars NXT will suffice..
clay first, then polish the car.. after you have polished out all the swirls, apply your wax.. trust me, dont try to polish out swirls by hand.. you will need a nap after you finish the hood.. BUT, if u are going to attempt it by hand, meguiars scratchX is a decent product to use by hand... then invest in a grit guard and a foam gun for future washing to keep the swirls away.. and dont use quick detailer to do a quick waterless wash.. you're just asking for swirls that way.. or if you're in so cal, you can always come see me..

yeah, turtle wax color magic.. came with the "chip stick" .. all it did was fill the swirls temporarily.. it was ok for like car show prep, but it didnt really get rid of the swirls.. it just hid them..
i did this today with professional menzerna polish and a Flex dual action polisher.
now you see em..

I tried the 3M stuff...didn't work that well.
My personal process is Sonus SFX-1, SFX-2, topped with SFX-3, DWG, and sealed with Collinite 845.
This is after a proper wash/clay of course.
