Default An odd radiator fan issue...

I replaced my radiator fan because my (92 accord lx) fan was starting to fail. It was a squeeky bearing and gonna freeze up. The replacement fan popped right in and everything was fine for 2 weeks. The replacement fan had a few extra inches of wire making it a lil longer than the factory one between the fan and the plug end. Yesterday while in stop and go traffic I watched my temp gauge rise. When I got moving it went back down and all was well. The radiator fan stopped workin and is brand new.

When I got home and looked under the hood i saw that the wire had gotten into the fan blade a bit and wasnt cut but, the copper had been exposed on one side of both wires. I am assuming they touched each other but they might not have. I pulled the fan and jumped the wires and the fan ran so... I repaired the wires with liquid electrical tape and reinstalled the fan. Now it is not comming on at all.

I am wondering if anyone has any insite for me. 92 accord lx wagon

thanx for any help...

I have my fingers crossed I diddn't fry anything because I really cannot afford to have the dealership ngo on some expensive search for the issue.

the only other thing I would check is the fuse for the fan. [underhood fuse panel]
If the bare wires touched it could have blown the fuse.

there are 2 fan switches on your year....one on the top rad hose housing where it goes into the engine and the second one on the side of the thermostat housing in the back(follow the bottom radiator hose until you come across the thermo housing) hope that helps

You should be able to diagnose the whole cicuit with a test light.
