Another 3rd brake light question
I have a 92 Accord wagon and recently had the brake lamp MIL come on. I found the left brake light burned out but still had the 3rd light and hatch lights. After replacing the left bulb I no longer have the 3rd light nor the hatch mounted brake lamp. All tail lamps function.
Of course, now that the 3rd brake light and the hatch brake lights aren't working I still have the brake lamp MIL. Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know if the rear hatch gets its power feed from the left lamp assembly?
This is driving me buggy.

are you sure you installed the correct dual filament bulb?
Fuses?
I'll have to reread the post to try to understand the situation a little better.
FWIW the tail lights and brake lights are 2 different circuits.

Yes, I installed the correct bulb...bought them from the Honda dealer rather than trying to use an 1157.
Initially my left rear brake light went out, got the MIL on the way to work. When I checked the lights and found the left brake not working I noted that the right, high center and hatch mounted lights worked fine. When I replaced the left bulb on Friday I jumped in and mashed the brake to make sure the MIL no longer came on...to my surprise it did. Had my kid mash the brake while I checked. Found the high center and hatch mounted lights with no brake lights. The tail lights on the hatch work fine.
The high center bulb is good, as in the filiment is intact. I have not tried mounting that bulb in another location for verificationn though. It just seemed odd that all the brake lights on the rear hatch would stop working because I changed the left bulb.

Yes the High mount/inner left and inner right brake lamps are all on the same circuit. All 3 controled thru one brake light sensor.
The first thing I would check is where the harness flexes going into the rear hatch; sometimes the insulation on the wires cracks off, inside the wire loom.
The main brake light power enters the tail hatch on a Green/white stripe wire.
Also the ground could keep them from working.
Time for a test light and get that youngster back out to stomp the brake pedal.
I've got a schematic if you need it

I have been away from the computer for a few days. Hopefully the weather will give me a chance to check into the wiring today or tomorrow. If I need the schematic I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer.
Fixed. And they said you can't fix stupid. We'll chaulk this one up to stupidity.
Being unable to remove the bulb socket in the confines of the rear fenderwell, I removed the light assembly. After replacing the bulb and cleaning things up I reinstalled the assembly but in my haste failed to reconnect the small connector at the inboard side of the assembly. D'OH! That is where the hatch draws the power for the brake lights I reckon because after reconnecting the harness everything works. Jeeze, I feel like an idiot.
Thanks for the help.
