Default b16 leaking cam seal

I thought it was the vtec solenoid leaking, but after i got it off, i realized the oil was coming from the bottom of that black cap at the end of the cam. so I need to replace that, anyone know how hard it is? doesn't look too bad, just wondering. also, i would like everyone's opinion on what could happen running with that leak. i probably won't be able to get in there for a couple weeks to get it fixed, and I wonder if I should really baby the car for a while or if i can drive normally. just wondering if that leak will affect oil pressure enough to cause a problem. it is just a small leak, not spraying or anything. thanks.

You basically have to take the exhaust cam off.

It should be fine. Just keep an eye on your oil level

If the oil leak is from the cam cap, then NO the cam does NOT have to come out. I don't think theres ANY type of oil leak that has removing a cam involved in any part of fixing it. Anyways, theres a FAQ around here somewhere, I did it myself in a few minutes. Its a very typical b series symptom. The biggest thing you need to keep in mind, is torquing everything to SPEC.

torque specs FAQ

Try searching for a cam cap DIY. Good luck!

cool thanks. i've got the manual, just haven't looked at it yet. it's just a little leak, looks to be coming from the very bottom of that black cap. hopefully it's a simple fix. torque specs are good, thanks.
