Default b16 problem at high rpm

ok just setup is b16a2 on 6 psi

i just got the swap finished into my new shell and now it seems if i go anywhere over 6k rpm, as soon as i put the car in neutral the car idles like its about to shut off, maybe less then 500 rpm and if i try to drive it will sputter and drive like ****... Now if i go past 6k and the problem starts, as soon as i turn the car off and on it runs normal and the biggest thing that has me stumped is that theres no cel's at any point i hope someone has had this problem and can help

a tech at my work said that it could be a problem that vtec is causing, he is suggewsting that since this only happens after 5500 rpm (vtec's engage point) that the vtec lobe on the cam gets stuck and isnt releasing... does that sound right at all?

No, that doesnt sound right. If it was stuck open, there would be a cel. Have you tried inspecting the simple things first? Such as spark plugs, plug gap, ignition timing?

i havent yet only because if there was a problem with any of those then it would be a consistent problem not just when i go deep into the rpm range :/

Not all the time, i would just start looking into the simple things first, then after checking/ inspecting them i would move along to more complex causes.

Why hasn't anyone said to triple check his timing? Is it tuned?

yes its tuned on crome pro, timing belt wate rpump and tens is getting done as we speak... my cousin suggested ECU but i dont understand why that would be the problem there was no problem with it in my 93 dx, and now its in a 95 cx...( also anyone know why my damn cruise control light is on...?)

Ok. A faulty ECU would probably be shown as a Solid CEL with no codes, and very likely limp mode, which you're obviously not in. But maybe its a wrong ECU? I've read here about weird issues with non vtec ECU's used on VTEC engines and so on. Anyways, I know nothing about ECU's lol, but open her up and check her out inside. ( Shot in the dark here) GOod luck! And let us know what happens after doing timing belt!

i had a similar problem like this after i changed my manifold and tb... it was due to not tightning the bolts enough and the gasket wasnt sealing... some food for thought. since ur not throwing any cel's i doubt it has anything to do with the ecu... it is probably sumting mechanical. have u tried listening for a leak yet?

yea no leaks of anything, im kinda leaning towards takin off the vaccum line to the evap since theres no real need for it

Could be the crank/cam sensor gone bad or lots of noise in the circuit. Unless you have an oscilloscope, the easiest way to check it is to swap it out or change the dizzy.

Last I heard, those cars only had 70 hp, so if you're using that fuel pump, your starving the engine out for fuel, especially with a turbo.

No, no. Aftermarket high flow. Walbro or the like. You have forced induction. I dont care for stock pumps and FI, even if the kit says you won't need one.
