Koyo Rad and fan fitment with Hytech header
My stock radiator blew yesterday and I need to replace it. Does anyone know if the Koyo radiator fits with the stock fan housing trimmed if you have A/C and a Hytech header? It looks like it may fit with some trimming. If not what fans do you run to make it work. I searched and could not find much info or pictures. Any other rads I should consider? I need to know soon so I can order the parts to get my car back running.
Thanks,
Anselm

FAL Slim line fans.
I have a Griffin (about the same thickness of a Koyo Rad) and the FAL setup with my SMSP. It's tight, I'll tell you that but I'm not 100% sure the stock fans would work in your situation.

Will this work with the Koyo or Fluidyne? If so I think I have found my new rad setup. Anyone know which one accepts the Mugen Rad cap, hate to have to get rid of it as I have not even put it on yet.
All aluminum rad, Flex a lite integra fan, Samco ITR hoses... Got to get in contact with BlueR to get the stuff ordered!
Thanks

Just picked this yelllow one off of ebay, lucky I don't care about color but I would prefer to have gotten a black one. Still at less than $200 shipped it was the best deal I could get for this fan. Black one would have been at least another $90 elsewhere.

The black samco rad pipes will match the black samco intake pipe on the way from King.If there was a pole for who has changed the most things for Expo, I think I would be in the lead.

I think I can say I have spent a fortune and time to get ready for Expo

Since I am still waiting for the FAL fan to come in and took some pics of parts I have so far and some easy installs. Marc hooked me up with the Koyo Rad, Cap and Samco radiator hoses. If that damn EBAY FAL fan would get here, suppossed to be tomorrow so that I can get the rad installed.

Some JDM and Mugen goods here.

JDM ITR Titanium shift **** and boot!

Was a very easy install

Engine bay before install. ITR valve cover with flaking paint due to engine builder.

BPI intake and Samco hose ready for install

Installed!

For those of you who used the Samco intake pipe, what did you use to join the two tubes. I ended up improvising and used a broken pen cap and these two clamps. Still need to find a piece of pipe to use instead. I will probably go to Lowes to see what type of piping I should use instead but the pen cap should do for now.

Mugen cap and socks in front of the Hytech header

Engine bay shot with mugen items and intake installed. Now I need to decide what to do with the valve cover. I think I will strip the paint and repaint it with VHT wrinkle red.

Since the departure of the mugen header, the mugen bar finally has some company

AEM, what to do with it?
That is all for now until I get the Rad installed this weekend assuming the Fan comes in...
I have a KOYO rad, FAL dual fan and Hytech header in my car. No a/c though
There was clearance when I had the USDM front end.
When I switch to JDM front end -- they had to machine the upper rad mounts to tilt the rad forward a bit so it would clear.

Thanks for the pics, it looks like it will be a tight fit with AC. I think there may be room for the ac line between the two fans. I will know this weekend if my Fan gets here.

Fans finally came in. Bling yellow but it was cheaper than black so I guess it will have to do.

Now to mount it to this and get the car up and running.

Are the little piece of metal on the fan blade required? There is one on each side and not sure if I should remove or leave it on?

Here is the front side of the koyo rad

I thought this was going to be a simple install but it turned into a 4 hour job. First the screws supplied with the fan did not fit the nuts in the fan so I needed to find some that fit to bolt on the top piece and lower pieces

In this pic you can see that I could not fit the bracket on as the wide ride does not have anywhere for the bracket to grip. I improvised and used a plastic strap.

For the other side the bracket barely has a little piece of metal to grip onto.

Picture of the Rad installed. It definitely was not easy as the samco hoses were a bitch to get on as they are tight, with some silicone and pressure I got them on, the lower one was the toughest. I will say now for anyone considering this rad. If you intend to keep AC then forget it. You will know why in the next pic.

As you can see, even with the slim fan, one of the ac lines is touching the header. Not only that, the fan shroud would touch the hytech header if not for the ac line holding it back. Still need to figure out what to do about the ac line and shroud. I think I will try header wrap on the ac line to see if that will protect, should work since header wrap is can be used in continuous heat, otherwise the a/c will have to go.

Another shot on how close the fan shroud is to the header.

On top of these issues, the overflow bottle would not fit in it's stock position so I had to move it to another hole and it fit but just barely.
Moral: Don"t get Wide radiator if you intend in keeping A/C. Hytech header clears radiator but just barely...
Wow AW that is a tight fit! This is the same reason I'm switching from a Koyo back to a Fluidyne, the Koyo is by far one of the fattest radiators I've seen for our cars.
I had the same problem with the coolant overflow and just bent the bracket a bit.

I bought some header wrap and will be wrapping my A/C lines. I can't bear to wrap the header as I love looking at the bare steel.
Let me know how the fluidyne fits as I am ok with switching as well later on if it is better.
As to cooling so far, it works really well as I could not get the fan to even kick in until I just held the throttle down for a while. It makes sense since the rad holds so much coolant. Samco lines were very tough to get on the lower rad opening. I had to swithch to a regular clamp as I did not have enough room to use the oem clamp with the a/c lines in the way.
