I have a cf hood and it need to be re clear coated. It is fading and some spots and has a 5'' crack. The hood it self is not cracked but the clear soat is, how would I fix this?

 

take it to a body shop?

 

I know I could do that, but I was wondering what the DIY method is

 

wetsand it down with a 400-600 grit sandpaper, but DO NOT sand down through all of the original coat. Then re-clear it like you would any other body part. Let it set for a week or two, then if needed lighty wet sand with a 2000 grit and buff. I used a Omni clear on my old hood at it came out pretty nice......
