Default Buying RSX-S, Need Advice

Hey Guys,

First off I apologize in advance if this isn't the correct section for this question. I checked General Discussion but there was no category for this.

After my car was stolen in Jan. I've been looking for a new car and I came across a used '02 Silver RSX Type-S.

Here's a quick rundown:

1. One Owner
2. All Maint. Records Available
3. 125,000 Miles (Mostly Highway; He worked in NYC and lived in PA)
4. Stock Everything
5. CEL; P0420
6. Waiting for Title from NYS DMV to arrive

I've been in contact with the owner for about 3 weeks now only because we've been waiting for the title to come back. He just recently relocated permanently to NYC from PA and no longer needs the car.
I ran a compression check and it was 150 psi all across. Exterior is in good condition, and the interior is flawless. Car drives fine with no noticeable transmission issues.
And as far as the CEL is concerned, I planned to go test pipe/High Flow anyway so the OEM cat is useless for me. And it helps that he's taking off an additional $200 for this issue.

My questions:

Since this is my first time purchasing private party, I'm a little concerned about whether this is a good deal or too good to be true.
The owner was asking $8000 but because of the CEL he's offering it to me for $7800. He insists due to the fact that he's now in the city owning a car is not a priority especially since insurance is higher and the fact that he's been parking it in a garage/lot.

Again, the owner has been in contact with me and has answered all my questions. Feel free to give me your opinions or suggestions.

Thanks Guys.

Sounds like a good deal. Once you get KPro, you'll turn that CEL off anyway.

Just an update, picked her up last week and I can't be happier. Thanks for everyone's help.

Btw, Seafoam'd the other day and no more CEL. Not bad for $7,800.

Nice find. I like that interior color. Sure beats the tan.

150psi on all four seems low to me, my a1 was 195-200psi on all four. Since the type-s is 11-1 i think the numbers just seem low.

I think 190-215 is normal for the a2. Not positive on that though.

yeah 150psi does sound a bit low. But at least its all the way across the board.

Not a bad purchase.
