rear camber question
My suspension is slightly off due to either a previous accident or from being towed onto a flatbed w/o wheels on after being stolen. Alignment shops have gotten it close enough that the car drives straight and handles fine, but after some spirited driving on windy roads and such, the rear tires show wear on the outside edge.
I've looked at diagrams and it looks like it's a positive camber problem and not a toe problem. I've looked at rear camber kits and the washer trick but I'm wondering if that is only to dial in positive camber to compensate lowering it, or if I can use it to dial in more negative since I think that's what I need. Anyone know?

if you can adjust the height of the car... then lower it more to make it more negative.
washer trick and camber kits make the negative camber more positive.
there is a posibility that your toe is off and that is why its eating at your tires on the outside.
jus go get an alignment done and have them print out the before and after specs.

Adjustable Camber kits will adjust both negative and positive
When i got mine i installed it without adjustment and i noticed i had gone from bad negative camber to bad positive camber then i dialed it in...

actually i found some alignment specs. they are a few years old, though. i don't really know what it means, maybe someone can translate:
left rear camber
actual: -0.6"
before: -0.7"
Specified range: -2.0" 0.0"
left rear toe
actual: 0.93"
before: 0.99"
specified range: 0.04" 0.16"
The previous section was circled and noted: "Maxed out" "possibly bent"
right rear camber
actual: -1.0"
before: -1.0"
specified range: -2.0" 0.0"
right rear toe
actual: 0.10"
before: -0.13"
specified range: 0.04" 0.16"
cross camber[
actual: 0.4"
before: 0.4"
total toe
actual: 1.03"
before: 0.84"
specified range: 0.08" 0.32"
thrust angle
actual: 0.42"
before: 0.37"
Like I said it drives okay, but the outside edges of the rear tires wear prematurely, especially during spirited driving. Is there a kit I can buy that will be cheaper than replacing the control arms? It's kindof a beater so I'm not looking to restore or race it.
