Probably trading in my '03 RSXtypeS for a Honda Si Sedan.
I made a thread over in the Civic 2006-Present section. I've gotten some pretty good feed back from over there, I was curious what you guys would have to say about it.
Here's the gist of it.
I've had my typeS for ~3.5? years. I bought it used from an Infinity/Acura dealership, "Honda certified Pre-Owned." Had less than 11k miles on it, and a 5 year warranty. I got fleeced, way over paid. Its a '03, black completely stock, manual tranny, has ~20k miles on it now. It's completely stock. Original everything, even the tires.
I'm probably gonna go do some test drives when I get home, whenever that happens. I've tried to get some quotes on the net and they were both msrp. I was told they'd have to order it for me.
Have any of you DC5 owners had the chance to drive or ride in a Si. I was thinking I'd go for an 07-08 model. They have had paint issues and trany issues, but it's the closest thing to a four door RXS that there is. So that's why I'm interested in one.
Thoughts, opinions, flames?

The newer Si's are nice, but if your looking for the same power as an rsx i wouldnt count on it.. well at least it didnt feel like my bros rsx at all.. i say drive it, and if you like it go for it, but theres a chance you might feel its "underpowered" as i would put it.. but this is coming from an Ep3 Owner ;]. The 07 si i drove felt slower than my ep, but thats to say they are bigger

Yeah I work away from home for an energy services company. I spend ~21 days a month away from home. I only get to drive it a few days a month. In one of the door sills the plastic film is still on the RSX emblem. It's definitly like new. Acura told me I don't know how to drive and that's why my 3rd gear grinds, I've even got it on the official Acura letterhead with a watermark, "you can't drive." lol So officially there is nothing wrong with the car especially the trany!
I was hoping that the Si was a slightly more 'civilized' four door RSX. I'm getting old, I'm also 6'2" and the RSX sits really low to the ground. I can't believe I just said that. I want what I thought was basically the same car as the RSX, with the same motor, a better ride, a LSD, better seats, a better stereo, four doors etc... So was I wrong in thinking that?
I'll see how the test drive goes if I can make it in for my few days this month. Fingers crossed.

I was under the impression that the Si had a little more power. Underpowered compared to the K20sometning? The sedan does weigh 60 lbs more than the coupe, but could it make that much of a difference?
I live in the south where there are no hills so I'll be driving on flat ground. One of the reviews I read said that if you live in a hilly area this may not be the car for you. Well I don't so I'm wondering if it is.

If you're looking for something slightly more civilized than the RSX, get a TSX. A 4-door Si is a step down, regardless what the 06+ Civic forum wants to believe.
I drove one (07 Si 4-door) hoping much of what you are and I came away throughly dissapointed. The car is slower than the RSX Type-S, too. Plus it feels *much* heavier.
There are better 4-door cars on the market right now. Heck, I'd rather have an Accord.

Look at the TSX Type S. I am not into luxury at all in vehicles, but after I just sat in one, I wanted it. Go look, you will love it. As far as FG Si Civics, I would imagine the RSX is faster since my EP3 (which RSX owners love to call slow) can beat one with little effort. I beat a brand new 08 Mugen Si in my EP3. Although I still feel that the FG is a nice car, but with the exception of more room, it is a downgrade from an RSX-S. You asked about the radio, well your RSX-S has a nice Bose unit with sub. The FG does not have this and it has that new dash design to where if you want to upgrade the head unit, you have to replace that whole large dash plastic piece that surrounds not only the radio but the A/C and heater controls.
As blueshark123 said about an STI, I agree. The STI has great power, appearance, seats and just about everything you would want. The STI also sits high off of the ground, so you eliminate that problem. (I have a friend with one and he can pull all the way up to curbs until the tires touch and his bumper easily clears.) Try out the Subaru.

If your RSX is stock, the new SI has a racier feel to it, although it is not going to be much faster than the RSX if at all. If you like shiny new things, go for it. It's a great car for the money. However, it's potential for modifications is capped by the lack of standalone engine management. That's why you won't catch me trading in my ep3 for one anytime soon.

Yeah those other cars are great. I drove a TSX while the Acura techs were deciding I didn't know how to drive. I loved it, I wanted one, but $28k seriously?
The STI or EVO, the old one not the new one, were cars that I wanted at one time as well. I don't have $30k to spend, I was looking for functionality as well as fun.
I'm gonna test drive the Si and see what it feels like. Sounds more and more like I'm gonna keep the RSX. I guess its time to start saving up to extend the warranty.

You get a lot for that $28K TSX sticker, and dealers are really dealing on them right now.
The Si is a boy-racer. The TSX is a junior executive level of car. The TSX has a better chassis, better suspension setup, a 2.4L motor that you don't have to rev the **** out of, much nicer interior and far better ergonomics.
I think it is much better looking too, but that's subjective.
But drive an Si. I don't think you'll feel it is any better than the RSX-S you currently have.

Yes, TL Type S
Get an ep3
pp But yea if your not looking at racing, and like a comfy yet sporty car get the new si.. as for better gas milege and a better look (my opinion
) get an ep3.. it would be a downgrade to the type s in proformance though. Buy what YOU like though not us
