i searched and didnt find much on the subject. I wanted to know if it removed material at all? Will it remove like say .0007-.001?
I just measured my crank with a micrometer and got
#1 - 1.7711
#2 - 1.7712
#3 - 1.7712
#4 - 1.7712
Then i measured my eagle rods on a CMM and got.
#1 - 1.8906
#2 - 1.8905
#3 - 1.8907
#4 - 1.8905
So i do some math and get this for clearance between my rod and crank.
#1 - 0.0597
#2 - 0.0596
#3 - 0.0597
#4 - 0.0596
and the bearing thinkness is
Rod bearing thickness by color
Blue 0.0594”- 0.0593”
Black 0.0593”- 0.0592”
Brown 0.0592”- 0.0591”
Green 0.0591”- 0.0590”
Yellow 0.0590”- 0.0589”
Pink 0.0589”- 0.0587”
Red 0.0587”- 0.0586”
so if i use the red ones it leaves me with
#1 - .0011
#2 - .0010
#3 - .0011
#4 - .0010
and im looking for .0017-.002, i wanna run it looses.
anyone micro polish before? did you measure your crank before you did it to see if it removed material?
thanks in advance

youre not going to be able to take that much off the crank by just micropolishing. To get the clearance you're trying to get, youre going to have to cut the crank. but then again, you're not taking that much off either so if you are choosing to cut the crank, look for a place that can be as precise as what you need it to be.
Years ago, we were looking at different machine shops to work with and some actually said if we wanted an exact precise to the dot measurement, they wanted to borrow our Mitutoyo calipers. haha.

cutting that much off is too risky.
grinding is an option but i dont know any shops that will do a crank.
