Default 00 civic vtec not engaging (searched)

So i did a mini me swap...my vtec was workin fine and everything...but after a month the vtec stopped workin...i replace my vss, vtec switch, and vtec solenoid gasket...i had a check engine light on for awhile for an evaporator leak but ever since i reset my ecu after replacing the vss, the check engine light never came on again...so i thought my ecu is fried...replaced my ecu and still nothin...im runnin out of ideas...i checked my knock sensor and the last possible thing i can think of is throttle position sensor, vtec solenoid and oil pump but the engine only has 70,xxx miles....wut do u guys suggest...my timing belt is hella tight right now but is there any possible way that may be a problem...im about to do an oil change to to see if that may have been the problem too with the engine sittin out for awhile b4 i bought it....im just runnin out of ideas and car feels way too slow

if you are low on oil vtec will not engage, so if you are about to do an oil change that could very well be the problem. are you throwing any other CELs?

Run down to Autozone and get the code and come back.

Yeah VTEC will not engage when you have knock sensor issues.

I would just check the knock sensor and wiring to it. I would keep the ECU stock, but if are planning on tuning it will have to be different.

Yes, P28's will eliminate the knock and 2nd O2 sensor.
