00 civic vtec not engaging (searched)
So i did a mini me swap...my vtec was workin fine and everything...but after a month the vtec stopped workin...i replace my vss, vtec switch, and vtec solenoid gasket...i had a check engine light on for awhile for an evaporator leak but ever since i reset my ecu after replacing the vss, the check engine light never came on again...so i thought my ecu is fried...replaced my ecu and still nothin...im runnin out of ideas...i checked my knock sensor and the last possible thing i can think of is throttle position sensor, vtec solenoid and oil pump but the engine only has 70,xxx miles....wut do u guys suggest...my timing belt is hella tight right now but is there any possible way that may be a problem...im about to do an oil change to to see if that may have been the problem too with the engine sittin out for awhile b4 i bought it....im just runnin out of ideas and car feels way too slow
if you are low on oil vtec will not engage, so if you are about to do an oil change that could very well be the problem. are you throwing any other CELs?
alrite so i just did my oil change but still no vtec...i finally have a cel now after changin out my ecu and it gave out a code 23...im about to look at which code it is hopefully somethin not too big
well i looked it up on a thread here and its the knock sensor....hmmm well that does make sense cuz my friend cut the knock sensor wire and because we didnt have any butt connectors i think he taped it back together...so do u guys think the wire might have a short somewhere or do u think i should just switch out the knock sensor anyways thanks
