Default HID retrofit question

How many amps do the HID ballasts draw from the battery?

How many amps/volts does the stock halogen wires draw?

I want to run an external switch that has a 12v 20 amp max.

I was browsing through Team-integra's HID retrofit wire harness and it mentioned the use of diodes. What are diodes? Are they necessary? I will be setting it up with multiple fuses since I will be using a dual bizenon setup with a total of 4 bizenon ballasts that I picked up from a guy on here.

Or how about a name of a tool which I can use to measure amps?

http://www.hid-planet.com

im actually doing 2 retrofits for people on hondatech and just got done with jetta mK3.

I think off the top of my head if i can remember correctly.

hid bulbs have a 35w after warmup, and a halogen has close to 80-90.

No use in diodes, if you have a integra. its pretty easy to make a wiring harness.

Use that hidplanet site to learn all what you need too. It's where i started and they are very reliable source.

Here is what I did. I modified this in paint a while ago. You can eigther use 9005 or 9006 male connectors and you can use one or both Relays. You decide. When I made yours I used two relays one for each side. Its entirely up too you.

Oh ignore that each one says 9006 or 9005. From the factory harness you would connect them to the 9006. Just imagine they are all 9006 male and female.

85 and 86 does not matter what polarity. They will activate the Relay no matter what side. You can try it for yourself just in case. 87 and 30 that is how I wired it or visa versa from the battery, that is your power to the ballast. Ground just go to the Chasis of the car. The High Beam Bulb just use the original power wire like stock. Simple as that. The only time consuming part was soldering all the connectors and taping it all. That was a pain.
