yes v-tec opperates off of oil pressure.. if your oil is too low that = low oil pressure which = no v-tec

youre wrong. the butterflies open at 6k rpms while vtec engages at 4.4k rpms. i dont know how this incorrect info is still floating around. and just to make sure i was 100% right, i hooked a little light up to the vtec solenoid. it lit up at 4400 rpms.

ok i thought on a stock ecu v-tec is around 2,000 rpms worth.. hints vtec at 6,000rpm until 8,000 rpm

man, vtec engagement is always an arguement. how about your solenoid? just to make sure, put this bad boy in and see if it works then.

How is it an argument, it is a FACT that the GSR ECU, engages VTEC at 4400rpm, the IABs open at 5750 rpm.

Reset your ECU, that may be your problem if you have the correct amount of oil and everything is connected properly.

This might sound stupid but is your speedo, cruise, and odo working? I had a 94 GSR and the I believe it was the vehicle speed sensor on the trans went out and none of these worked nor did v-tec. Just asking and trying to help.

also, to the OP, hook up some sort of light to the solenoid. this will tell you if it is an electrical or mechanical problem.
