head swap on crv
is your CRV transmission Manual or Auto, if it is manual then it would be easier since you can pick up an OBD2 from a 96-97 Del Sol or a 99-00 Civic Si depending on your year crv, as for automatic US markets did not offer Automatic VTEC ecu's you would have to find one thru here or ebay. explain more of your head swap.
its a 1999 crv ex manual. i was wondering if changing the computer would mess up my awd because i dont kno if the awd is controlled by the computer or by the drivetrain itself or i heard that there might be a different computer that runs the awd separately. im just worried that if i would do a head swap i would loose my awd.
AWD is not affected by the computer like the newer Honda Suv's VTM system. Ive done the GSR head swap and worked out quite well. The one I did was an Auto. Would have expected more from a 5speed. Good luck!
thanks. was there any modifications that you had to do to the head for clearance issues because i want to put stage 1 cams in it also. Also did you use the crv header or the gsr or aftermarket. and how reliable has it been.
No clearance issues. After the GSR head we then turbo charged it with a modified Greddy kit for a GSR. I would assume a standard LS header would work though. Reliability was good. No issues. Good luck
