Default noob *** engine troubles

so yeha, you can make fun of me all yous want. but i have some problems, and the last thing i need is someone telling me that i'm a dumbass.

so my radiator reservoir was loose and rubbing on a belt. it got a hole rubbed out of it. antifreeze, completely dried up. temp peaked, i panicked, pulled over to the nearest gas station, squirted as much water in my radiator as possible.. then heard some faint cracking sounds.

please tell me i didn't crack my block.

if i need a new engine. someone please tell me where i can get a new one for cheap. and it doesn't help if your telling me i can get a good price for one in Montana. i live in Rancho Cucamonga California.

mine is a 91 hatch 1.5L automatic tranny
i definitely want to upgrade with a vtec, but i know that i won't get too much more HP with the auto tranny. i just need it fixed so i can get to work.

help please

Run a compression test first.

fill it all the way back up and run the car for a few seconds. See if it leaks. If it doesnt look in your oil for water. It will look like chocolate milk and give it a good visual check. I have heard those sounds before and there was nothing broken. Good luck with that bro

i'll check for the chocolate milk.
but after i heard the cracks, and the engine cool'd, it didn't start after that.

and ya, it was leaking antifreze on the tow. but it could have been just all the coolant that spewed all over the engine when i was pouring it in.

So it didnt start after it did that? You need to add more info here. Like have you tried to start it since then? How far does it get when trying to start? Such as, does it crank over, do the light turn on, does it almost start, does it start and die. You know, those kind of things we need to know.

You will need to do a compression test on the cylinders, could also do a pressure test on the coolant system.

If this is your daily driver I would start on getting it working instead of thinking about getting a new engine for it. You can always save up for the new engine while driving your car.

ya, i tried starting it again this morning.. it almost starts.. intermitantly.
antifreze starts to leak when i turn it.
i didn't have alot of time to check all this stuff this morning. but i will tomorrow.

yeha, it's my daily driver. and i've been meaning to do a engine swap for it. i know someone who told me that we could get me a new engine for under $500.

hopefully i can get this all worked out within a few weeks.

i'll post some more info tomorrow.

so i tried starting it again. no water in my oil, antifreze still dripping from radiator area. no smoke coming out of tail pipe.

someone told me that it may be a burnt sensor or something of that nature.

help

and if anyone can refer me to a great honda mechanic in Rancho, it'd be much appreciated. ^_^
