1994 Honda Accord EX Second Timing Belt Replacement
I own a 1994 Honda Accord Ex with approximately 112,000 miles on it. The timing belt was replaced in either 2000 or 2001 when the car had roughly 65,000 miles on it. The car has been gently used mostly for my 15 minute commute to work and occassional highway driving. I change the oil as recommended. Due to the age of the vehicle, not the mileage, my local Honda dealer recommended a new timing belt. Subsequently I took the car to my local mechanic (who does a lot of work on Hondas) who didn't seemed nearly as concerned. Where I am past the year commendation of 72 months rather than the mileage recommendation should I be concerned. It is something I will probably do later this spring but I am little worried that I am may chancing it by waiting as I know what happens when the belt snaps.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and opinions you may have.
Every 7 years or ~80k miles is the recommended interval.
The belts DO snap and there are actually have been like 3 posts just recently where it has happened. So long as you stay on top of it you can push it a bit further, but keep in mind if it does break you have a much more expensive fix waiting.

Thanks for the reply. I knew I was well below the mileage threshold but was hoping there might be a little less risk related to age. I already planned to have it done this spring but I will probable do it sooner rather than later. The only discussions I could find were related to the replacing the belt the first time around.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
